It's a real event and one that questions the boundaries between the game world and the real world and the realm of human decency.
So games like WoW can say a lot about us as people, but what do they say about the systems and institutions we create? MMORPGs have created micro-economies that have helped economists model how these systems can be adjusted for the real world. Let's go to the Thought Bubble. Eve Online is a great example of a game as a microcosm of societal institutions https://rideroftheyear.org/. This sci-fi space opera released in 2003 has an economy almost completely driven by players. Eve Online has such a dynamic economy that in 2007, they hired Dr. Eyjolfur Guomundsson to be the game's lead economist. He and his team acted as the game's National Economics Institute, Statistics Office, and Central Bank. Describing his job as "any economist's dream, because this is not just an experiment, this is more like a simulation. More like a fully-fledged system where you can input to see what happens." In Eve Online, there are more than 5,000 items players can buy and sell, and over 1 million transactions happen each day using in-game currency known as ISK, or Interstellar Kredits. As of 2014, there are around 600 trillion ISK in the game which translated to around $18 million real world US dollars. But since that was all player-made and tied to the creation of economic value, the gamemakers could not act as a government and infuse the economy with fresh cash so Dr Guomundsson had to find more subtle ways of balancing out the economy, like implementing broker fees, selling player skill books and imposing sales tax on in-game transactions to avoid hyperinflation. Also, Dr Guomundsson believes that Eve Online can be used to study monetary systems by looking at how everything from the Gold Standard to cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin can function on a grand level within the game. And here we thought the game was all just about building ships and blowing them up. Thanks, Thought Bubble! And speaking of building ships and blowing them up, Eve Online has made history for having one of the biggest and most costly in-game online battles of all time. You see, spaceship costs in the game can be translated to real world money, with the smallest worth around $1 to $13 US dollars and the largest as much as $7,600. And just so we're clear, those values are based on the average hourly pay within the game across all players which can be converted to US dollars because players can use real money OR in-game currency to purchase and trade play time. So in 2014, a battle that would become known as Bloodbath of B-R5RB raged over two days. And when it ended, there was over 11 trillion ISK worth of damage, or $330,000 real world dollars. Now, players can make money inside the games, so most of that money wasn't spent from actual players' wallets, but still, that's a lot of subscription time. But real money is constantly going into these games. Players routinely sell, buy, and trade gaming aspects from this game and others, even though it's forbidden. This is on top of the subscription, or pay-to-play business models. Gaming professor and economist Edward Castronova demonstrated in 2002 that the MMORPG Everquest was the 77th richest country on the planet, with a GDP higher than that of China's. But say you don't want to spend all your time selling spiderling silk in the Bazaar. There's a world out there for every type of player. Sci-fi fans have Star Wars: The Old Republic. Fantasy players have got Lord of the Rings Online. There's even a DC Universe Online for comic book and superhero fans. And the future is showing a new generation of MMORPGs. Games like Guild Wars 2, Final Fantasy Online, and many others are keeping the genre alive and well. A new MMORPG, No Man's Sky, comes out in 2016, and according to its developer, Hello Games, offers players a chance to explore over 18 quintillion lifesize planets. Each planet will have its own unique environment. Sean Murray, the creator, states that, "Even if you explore each planet once a second, our own sun will burn out before you can see them all. This is all done with the power of procedural generation." And rather than ending with that existential crisis, I'll leave with this -- humans have a few core drives. We want to be together and we want to explore new worlds, and with MMORPGs, we get the best of both. Thanks for watching. See you next time! 10. Cloud Buster Dr. Wilhelm Reich was a remarkable man. Earning a doctorate in psychiatry, he was an influential figure in the field before moving to New York to escape the Nazis. He also coined the term “Orgone”, referring to a biological energy.
Soon after this, Reich began building Orgone Accumulators, which could supposedly harness the mighty power of Orgone to improve physical or mental health. But all of this was just a preamble for the Cloudbuster. In 1953 a severe drought swept across the United States for several months, leaving the state of Maine badly affected. So, Reich decided to build a device to use Orgone to bring the rain Oncasinogames Canada. According to the Bangor Daily News, within hours of its use the area had a quarter of an inch of rain, despite no forecast. Eventually though it seemed that his claims about the wonders of Orgone caught up with him. The FDA took him to court to prevent Orgone related products and literature being distributed, as they believed it was “fraud of the first magnitude”. Reich was later convicted of contempt of court and sentenced to two years’ imprisonment. His designs were also completely destroyed. Conspiracy theorists have said that the FDA wanted Reich to keep quiet about the potential of the Cloudbuster. SOURCE: Gawker, FDA, Orgone Institute 09. EV1 These days in some of the more hipster areas of the world (looking at you San Francisco) you can’t cross the street without being knocked down by an electric car or hybrids. Yet back in 1996, you’d have been hard pressed to find a single one of them. General Motors changed that with the EV1. It was the first mass-produced electric car ever and GM distributed 800 of them across California and Arizona. But it seems that General Motors wasn’t as into the idea of an electric car as first thought, despite widespread popularity from those that tested them out, including celebrities such as Tom Hanks. According to the 2006 documentary “Who Killed the Electric Car?” the ad campaigns were lacklustre to the point where GM started being openly critical of the EV1. In 1999 GM discontinued the line, saying there was a lack of demand. But even if that were the case, why did GM make a point of scraping almost every single EV1 out there? Some conspiracy theorists point towards pressure from the oil industry to drop it. Others think GM wanted to remove the greener competition to their small penis compensator, the Hummer. But it also has great potential as a viable biofuel. The problem is that biofuel itself has been maligned by everyone, from the Royal Society to the European Commission. Biofuel has so far relied on corn, palm, or sugar, but hemp is more versatile, cleaner and more hardy than any of those crops. So what gives? Well, according to author Jack Herer, the failure to see the modern benefits of hemp stems from the 1930s. At the height of the Great Depression, hemp stripping and pulping technology made it an “available and affordable” alternative to paper. If hemp had taken off, businesses such as paper and plastic conglomerate DuPont stood to lose millions. As a result, a campaign to highlight the dangers of marijuana was ramped up - to make it socially and legally unacceptable to grow hemp. Despite this, bio fuel believers are fighting back. In the US there are a range of websites dedicated to the use of hemp as a fuel for cars and in the UK, companies such as Hemp Global Solutions have been set up with climate change and the reduction of carbon emissions in mind. Ryongsong Residence When you're the leader of a country that isn't quite well respected, you better believe that you need a good security system. And in the case of North Korea, especially in light of recent events, that need for security has never been higher. Yet, ruler Kim Jong Un has done very well in making the home of the Royal Family of North Korea very secure. Ryongsong Residence is nearly impenetrable. Just on the outside alone, it’s pretty solid! There's an electric fence surrounding the whole place, armed guards positioned strategically around it, and then, as if that wasn't enough, there's a minefield!
Yes, a literal minefield that will blow you up if you step in the wrong spot. The walls of the residence are built to last as well, and not just random strikes, but full-on nuclear blasts. This place could literally survive a nuclear apocalypse should it come to that. But, in case the family of Kim Jong Un needs to flee, they're covered, because the property is built on secret tunnels that will lead them to various other safe houses. It’s hard to say exactly what’s going on at the residence because Kim Jong Un has also had it renovated several times already. Oh, and there's also apparently gas that will be released if someone breaches security and somehow makes it onto the grounds. So you'd have to be either really brave or really stupid to try and breach the Ryongsong Residence. I'm just saying. 3. The Maximum Security Mansion Ok, let's be honest here, if you live in a place that is called the "Maximum Security Mansion", it better live up to the hype. And this one most certainly does. Located in Evergreen, Colorado, this mansion is without a doubt one of the most secure buildings on the planet. The cost of protecting this 32-acre estate comes in at around $6 million dollars. That's a lot of protection, but then again, there's a lot to protect. One of the interesting things about the house is that there are numerous cameras watching over everything, and because of how advanced technology is nowadays, all you need is an iPhone to check them out. Now, yes, you need to have the login details AND permissions from the security team on the estate to check it out, but it would be cool to view it. Of course it’s a smart house. The house is so advanced, that IF someone somehow was able to break in, they have thermal scanning that can find footprints and break down exactly what kind of print it is within 20 minutes. It also can speak to the family (in its own way) to let it know if something is going wrong inside the house, whether it be a burglar or a disaster like a fire or a flood. So yeah, it really does live up to its name. 2. The White House Is it really a surprise that the place where the President of the United States lives is on this list? Because it shouldn't be. The White House is one of the most secure places on the planet. It has now housed 45 different Presidents, and through the centuries of its existence it's grown and evolved into one of the safest buildings ever. Which, again, makes sense, as it houses one of the most important people in the world. Let's start with the outside, any pictures or photos you've seen of the White House shows a gate just outside it. What you might not know is that gate can take an impact from a massive vehicle and not budge. Add to that, there are guards outside the gate and on the grounds itself. So if you somehow made it past the gate, you would be taken down very soon after. Which is what happened twice already if you recall those people that jumped the fence a few years ago….whoops, there must be a glitch! Oh, and if you were going to try to poison the President through his food, you wouldn't make it to his table. Why? Because all food that is brought into the White House is scanned and tested (for poison) offsite to ensure that nothing untoward gets inside. And, obviously, the personal chef that the President has is vetted six ways to Sunday. So you can't get in on the ground. Well...how about the air? Nope! The White House has a personal radar system that can detect if anything gets too close to it, and the airspace above the White House is restricted, so flying over it is actually a crime. Add to that, there's bulletproof windows, numerous guards inside the White House, and if I'm being honest here, I would bet that there are some "secret" security systems inside the building just to make sure that the President is safe at all times. 1. Buckingham Palace God save the Queen. In this case, literally. Much like the White House, Buckingham Palace is a popular tourist destination, but don't let that fool you, this place is one of the most heavily guarded places in the world. And despite some scares and breaches of security (on a small scale), its defenses have never truly been breached. Let's start with the obvious. The place is surrounded by guards, each of them unwavering in their dedication to making sure that the Queen is safe, as well as the various other people that live in Buckingham Palace. In fact, at night, the guards do a special ringing task that makes sure that none of them fall asleep accidentally. Also, the roads outside the building are closed when visiting hours arrive, and the police are brought in during those hours to ensure that nothing goes wrong. The Queen has had panic rooms put in to protect the royal family from attacks, poison gas, bombs and all kinds of other threats. Details of course, are secret bu tit is reported that royal security is estimated ate 128 million pounds a year. Thanks for watching! Would you ever live in one of these homes? Let us know in the comments! Be sure to subscribe and see you next time! But as the old saying goes, it's the inside that counts. Renard is known for spending lots of money on rare things and it is reported that he has 500 million dollars worth of rare art inside the mansions many rooms, it could have anywhere from 21 to 29 bedrooms depending on who you ask. So, naturally, he has to have a state-of-the-art security system to protect it all.
The entrance alone is hard to get past. There's a massive security gate and wall keeping everyone out unless invited. Add to that, there's an army of security cameras, bulletproof glass windows, and more. Plus the neighbors are always watching... If you're thinking about trying to rob this place? Think again. There have to be easier targets. And now for number 6, but first be sure to subscribe and click the notification bell so you don't miss out on the latest videos! 6. The Kardashians The life of celebrities can be a bit complicated, full of pitfalls and dangers that us "common folk" can't understand. While they seem to want to be showered with attention and share all their private details with the world, at the same time they are adamant about their safety and their privacy. Only the best of the best in security guards are allowed to work at the Kardashian manor. And if you don't agree to a pat down by them, you're not getting into the house, not even if you're a friend of the family. Other security measures include motions sensors, cameras, a safe room, and more. Kim Kardashian is so concerned with being followed that she actually has a fleet of cars that are used every time she goes out. She takes one, security takes the others, and they bob and weave through each other to ensure no one knows where Kim Kardashian is, and hopefully can't be followed, unless she wants to be. The life of a celebrity... Be careful what you wish for. 5. The Corbi Family Residence We've already seen just how far certain rich people will go to protect themselves, but in the case of the Corbi Family, they take things really far. This place is a fortress!! SAFE security firm founder Al Corbi built the house in 2001. SAFE is short for Strategically Armored & Fortified Environments so of course his house has to be good!! These millionaires from Hollywood Hills have gone to extreme lengths to ensure that their family is protected no matter what comes their way. Want some examples? Ok, well, California is known for earthquakes. So, the Corbi's made it so the foundation of their home, which is huge, has 30 feet of concrete. Nature won't be able to crack that. The house is also built to survive nuclear and chemical attacks, which is a whole other level of logistics and impressive on many levels. Should something happen to make them want to take cover, they have two options. It has not one, but 2 panic rooms where they can not only see everything via camera footage, they can control their very impressive security system, which is so advanced that it actually has the ability to release fog onto the grounds. Then they can make a quick getaway on their helipad!! Or, if there is an attack on a global scale and they want to be safe and secure, there is an underground bunker beneath the house that can keep them safe and fed for about six months. It's clear that this family takes their security very seriously. 4. These two are gonna, be on the same cruise. They found out through this chat about a week ago that we're on the same group, that's are gonna get together, say hi to each other mark eight Risa. Do you have the shipmate app? We can connect using that? Well, there's there.

Tell me about your worst cruise ever and have any of you ever won money in the casino and any of you or someone you know. Has anyone ever won money in the casino at sea? I like a slot machine jackpot or something like that. I had one. I had one lucky streak, one time on my cruises: I'm still down kind of curious to know. That'S the app that mark is asking her about, and I've got someone here at telling me that they've subscribed to my channel fantastic they're, asking me to subscribe back to their channel you're not allowed to do that on YouTube. You'Re not supposed to do something for sub, and I don't do that so that comet has been held for review, but I'll just share it with you Casinoslots. Folks, there's these comments all the time that come to me in my comment box, or at least they try to get in there and YouTube block. Some people want to do these sub4sub things and that's a no-no. You grow, you grow organically. You put the content out and people watch it. They subscribe. It'S just that simple. In my case, it's like every hundreds. Every time a hundred views go on my meter, I find I have any subscribers. It seems to be 1 % and that's healthy growth rate which got to get to a thousand and word 656, and we got what 13 days to go cross your fingers, I think we're gonna make it. What do we got here mark is saying: Oh mark is saying yeah I have one of the casino crap tables 550 bucks. That'S Susan, McGinnis, saying 81 degrees hi here today. My sister-in-law always wins something in a casino at sea last time around corner bucks. Why is that? Why is it that some people have the let go a time or is it that they gamble so much? You know time, but the losses then, when they win one they think they bragged about it. I don't know, but some people have the luck. Ed there's no doubt about it and nothing wrong with winning that Mike Hamilton's saying get away November wheel of fortune, five thousand bucks. Oh yes, sir! That'S fantastic Mike question for you! When you won that amount of money did they withhold any taxes from you? Is there any any withholding like they haven't in the casinos in Vegas or because you're in international waters? It'S all yours, so I'm kind of curious about that. I haven't won anything that big to know you see, as you can tell be curious. If you, let us know, I'm Sherman, Mercer, saying yeah three-card poker 235 bucks yes way to go Christine is saying I never won but broke a slot machine thought. The 7-foot Scandinavian pit boss is gon na, throw me overboard. Well, you know tough for that. Guy. That machine probably took so much off of you. It deserves a break, technical and okay. No problem, bro Thanks! Oh man! Oh that's, my that's! My youtuber had to be careful when he said Angela ai1, on brilliance of the Seas $ 435, bingo and $ 300 on the same crew is beautiful. I mean that's Fanta, I'm glad to hear someone's winning cuz. I have not been that fortunate and whatever man these casinos, you know I sit there and then play in a machine. You know I'm listening for someone to go woohoo. I don't hear the woo-hoos from anybody. These machines are really bad, but it's nice to see this going on. A sonic is saying that J Sadiq is saying. I can tell you about some car trips that my dad and I went on every car trips are variable to me. Also, I'm the DJ and the i DJ for myself on the passenger seat of the car yeah. If the driver allows it it's okay, but sometimes drivers have rules that say I'm driving. I control everything so you're fortunate with that one Imogene Westen, saying worst Cruz was Balor during March rough seas. I won. I, I won cruise on my first car Carnival Cruise. We always win a few hundred bucks, no withholding no withholding okay. So if you win it whatever you, when you get it mark Hamilton Mike Hamill, saying all cash would not take taxes out fantastic. So you want you hit five grand. You got five grand fantastic! That'S that's good to know. Elizabeth screen is saying a seven hundred bucks on a slot machine. I nice surprise fantastic way to hit. It was 80 I boarded up this meeting mark wants to get together. He wants, they know you're traveling with a girl friend mark, and I know each other. I know how this is gonna work, but I'd love to hear the story. Love to read story, sometime, Christine is saying no is holding I'm Marie. I? I think this is your first time and I welcome you to the to the group. This is fantastic you're, going on a cruise out of San Juan, I hope you're flying in the day before, and it's gonna be okay, I hope you're not playing roulette and trying to land on the day of the cruise cuz. You know it is the same one with the airport, but we'll see you can. Let me know Jay sonic saying I DJ with my head. What'S that on the guard speakers there you go, that's why you can do that way to go buddy my dad. Likewise, honor of music, Angela, a anyone doing carnival sunshine in February the 23rd. Looking for a fellow cruiser who's gone mark Luffy, I was down about 200 Ashton's star, but betting 100 to 200 of 200 bucks a hand on blackjack. I was fortunate. I had a pocketful of black and white $ 100 chips. I netted a thousand bucks generally marked you're the kind of client at a casino that the casinos live for generally speaking, generally speaking, it usually doesn't work or it's out the other way that although those chips disappear and you've had so many, you don't quite remember how Many you bet and you're just kind of moving on with life, and then you wonder why your credit card bill is so big, but anyway way to go. Pamela, Jordan, saying Charles Jordan, my hubby didn't win in the casino, but he did win a 675 dollar Invicta. Diving watch nice. That'S a nice little giveaway boy! Well done nice going Mark Luffy! I was a lucky drunk still then Forrest saying I once won $ 320 at Roulette on freedom of the seats. I walked away immediately with my winnings as smart strategy. As far as meeting you up on that cruise ship Mark is saying, I only play blackjack or roulette at least was roulette. It'S almost 50/50 and the Doreen Chapman saying hi, Bruce +2 here is big, Duke County, that's Nova, Scotia welcome, Doreen mark the lost travelers are saying, Bruce I'll, send you a pic of us marry WI. Yes, I am new and yes, I am. I had to book a two different hotels because the first one cancelled - oh, this - is going into San Juan for your cruise. Exactly so you're going in the day before smart, you booked a hotel, it canceled on you booked another hotel yeah. You know this is this. Is the problem with saying what the cruise deals are fantastic out of San Juan? They got great prices, the trick of it is you got to be flexible enough to get in at least the day before, and then on the day out you may want to. You know if you don't get out the day of the departure, maybe you spend a day or two and then you get out that's just the way. It is right now in San, Juan and and Puerto Rico as a whole. It'S a crapshoot but boy thanks for letting me know, and thanks for joining us, you're you're a newbie from Connecticut fantastic great to have you here. Let'S see here Richard is saying: do they have power in San Juan watching TV they still on apart? You know I'm hearing now sixty seventy percent of the island or of the customers, but I'm worried worried I'm kind of curious. How much of the rural areas really have power. I mean you know, is three quarters of the territory still without, but one quarter where all the people are living do have power. You know that kind of it's it's a big rebuild and all we're talking, many billions, many many billions and I just hope, they're not doing it with a duct tape thing I hope they're doing it as a permanent fix but geez. What are they gon na? Note taking is a great skill to have because having good study notes is crucial for exam success. There is a lot you can do to improve your note taking skills so you don’t have to go scour the internet 2 days before the examination!
The right medium. Do you write faster on a laptop or on paper? Do you have difficulty concentrating when sitting at the back of the room? If these matters are addressed properly they can have a positive effect on your note taking skills. If you feel that you can’t keep up with the lecturer (and this may happen if you aren’t used to taking notes), it may help if you buy a voice recorder or just use your phone or laptop to record the lecture. Key ideas There is no way anyone can ever write everything the lecturer says. Jot down key ideas in big, clear writing, and then write more specific points underneath. This will help you organize your notes and make sense of it later. You can skip smaller words such as “the” or “in”- anything that’ll take up your writing time without adding any value to your notes. It will also help tremendously if you assign abbreviations to large words that are used often in the lecture. Using these tips, you should be able to shrink a sentence such as this: “Geosequestration is one of the many ways to control our carbon dioxide emissions” To this: “GS- a way to control CO2 levels” You can shorten ideas as much as you like, just make sure your notes make sense and that you’re not taking any information away by shortening your notes. Examples! Examples to support your main idea are extremely important. You may have difficulty understanding a topic 2 months after the lecture unless you see it being applied on paper. Where applicable, try to give an example based on what the lecturer is talking about. Quick diagrams are good where possible- for example, if you’re studying organic chemistry, molecular diagrams are a must! Summarize and edit your notes afterwards. While you’re in class you may not have had time to think about what you learned. A good revision tactic is to look through, and perhaps rewrite some parts of your notes. If I have the time, I like to opt to rewrite the day’s notes on separate pieces of paper (i.e. not in the book I wrote my original notes in) and add extensive examples and diagrams (the Internet helps heaps here) as well as underlining or color-coding important information. When it comes to exam time, you have lots and lots of thorough and clearly written notes that’ll help tremendously with exam revision. http://nggovernmentsummit.com/how-to-take-notes/ Many of you probably ask yourself a variation of this question from time to time:
Am I studying enough? If you feel like you should be studying more, feelings such as guilt and regret that you didn’t study enough for a certain subject or exam may arise. These feelings are negative, and they must be addressed for your peace of mind. The obvious answer to guilt for not studying enough is to study more. The problem, however, lies in the fact that that the word “more” is very subjective. More time or more effort? I’ve got a confession to make. There have been days where I’ve decided that I’d study 8 hours in one day for an upcoming exam- only to get about 3-4 hours of work done because of distractions. You might be guilty of that too; infact, I won’t be surprised that this happens to everyone more often than they’d like to admit. Rather than wasting four of those 8 hours, I could have allotted 6 hours instead to that same task, while making only one other change: putting more effort in. The results? I would have gotten 2-3 hours more work done, I wouldn’t have felt like a time waster afterwards, and I’d have a couple of hours to relax and get to work on my website See the difference? By now you might be thinking, “This is obvious! Why are you telling me this?” Because it needs to be said over and over again before people realize that poor effort leads to poor results! The sooner you come to accept this, the quicker you can move on and save TIME while getting MORE done! So, rather than allotting lots of time to a certain number of goals that you need to accomplish, you’ll want to work smarter and harder over a shorter period of time rather than working slower and without your full effort over a longer time. By doing so, you’ll be able to accomplish more than your peers while having more time for other commitments (or just leisure time!) So just remember- Set definite goals! Set a tight deadline for those goals. Minimize (or completely remove, if you know how to stay in the now) leeway time. Work hard, and, more importantly, work smart. http://nggovernmentsummit.com/how-much-should-i-study/ In the journey to studying success, there will be times where you just want to give up. There will be times where you just want to set fire to your text books and go live in a jungle, where exam marks and difficult assignments are only myths. But remember, if you want it badly enough, you are going to find a way to get it. I have always believed that people who try harder than everyone else will generally see better results than everyone else. I believe this holds true unless you have a legitimate mental disability that impairs your ability to learn. You can whine, complain and moan and tell me that the reason you didn’t get into the course you wanted was because your teachers don’t know how to teach or that you weren’t born as smart as everyone else. Well guess what? If you hold yourself accountable for your own failures or successes, you will realize that these things simple do. not. matter. Tell me, do you want studying success? Do you want it BADLY? Are you willing to skip on your precious Friday nights out to study for your exams? Tell me, how many of you are willing to put down your freaking smart-phone to study for hours and hours a day? Doesn’t sound hard, does it? To find answers on your questions, use a helpful StudyFAQ Platform, where you will find Student QA service. Then why the hell are most people unable to do so? Because we love making excuses. We love screwing up because of our laziness and blaming our ineptitude on a bad lecturer or even our own genetics. Even having the nerve to do this is an insult to all the successful people out there- do you think they just got lucky, that they didn’t have to work for this, and that they were literally handed the right opportunities and environment? NO! They got here because they invested their time, sweat and blood into their craft; because they were willing to do what it takes when ninety-nine percent of people were not. So stop screwing around.
